Push the clip portion of the mounting bracket directly onto one of the "fins" within the vent. Push the hinged base of the bracket firmly against the bottom of the vent to safely support the weight of the radio. Remove the mounting bracket by gently pulling it up and away from the vent.

6. Clean the chosen antenna location with an alcohol pad. Allow it to dry. Place the antenna firmly into place on the exterior of the SUV. The base of the antenna includes a strong magnet that will remain secure, even at highway speeds. To avoid scratching the finish, avoid sliding the antenna. Instead, pull the antenna directly up and reposition it if needed.
7. Run the connection cable from the antenna to the interior of the vehicle. Select an entry point with weather-resistant stripping, such as a passenger door, sunroof or trunk. The door can be safely closed on the cable as long as this rubber stripping is present. Tighten any excessive slack in the cable to avoid it snagging on objects. If desired, cover the cable with the included magnetic protection strip.
8. Place the car dock onto the previously installed dashboard mount. Connect the antenna cable to the antenna port on the dock. Plug in the 12-volt power cable to the dock and connect the other end to the SUV's cigarette power outlet. Connect a male-to-male audio cable from the car dock "line out" port to the "line in" port of the SUV's stereo. Alternately, connect a cassette tape adapter to the same port on the dock.
9. Plug the XM satellite receiver unit into the car dock and press the "Power" button. The dock allows the unit to be easily removed without unplugging every connection cable. For security, remove the receiver unit from the dock and take it with you when the vehicle is parked.
