Alter The Fan Belt On The 2002 Kia Spectra

The 2002 Kia Spectra comes equipped with two disparate belts that government all of the accessories on the front of the engine. Instructions

7. Turn the adjustment bolt on the end of the bracket clockwise with the ratchet and socket until the belt is tight. To test the tension of the belt, push downward on the belt with your hand. You should have no more than one-half inch of slack in the belt.


8. Tighten the locking nut down tight on the front of the adjustment bracket with the ratchet and socket.


9. Tighten the pivot bolt on the bottom of the alternator down tight with the ratchet and socket.


10. Crank the 2002 Kia Spectra and inspect the new fan belt with the motor running. Make sure that the new belt stays seated in the pulleys. Turn the reconciliation bolt on the butt end of the reconciliation bracket counterclockwise to loosen the fan region. Then, pull the fan belt off the alternator pulley, fan pulley and the crankshaft pulley. Then, route the belt out around the fan blade and out of the engine compartment.
