Wash the car as you would normally do.

8. Apply a paint sealer to the car. This will also give the primer holding power. If the car has had a number of paint jobs in the past, you may have to do an extensive amount of sanding, clear to the metal itself. The best way to sand is to work in sections and to sand in circular motions.
