Change An Oxygen Sensor Inside A 2002 Hyundai Sonata

Copper the O2 sensors in your van conscientious out to save on fuel consumption.

The 2002 Hyundai Sonata has two O2 sensors along the exhaust. There is one sensor beside the manifold and one sensor near the catalytic converter. These sensors direct the vehivle's fuel consumption based on the immensity of O2 in the exhaust. Whether the motorcar is inexplicably burning augmented fuel than accepted or the "Test Engine" illumination is on, it may retain a damaging O2 sensor. You can access and silver the sensors easily Homewards. Acquire replacement O2 sensors from an Car parts store.

Instructions

1. Hoist the machine with a jack and rest it on a steady set of jack stands. Remove the jack once the jack stands are secure.

2. Locate the oxygen sensor protruding from the manifold or exhaust pipe. Pull the electrical connection free by pressing down on the retaining clip and pulling the connector straight out.

3. Remove the oxygen sensor with an oxygen sensor socket and ratchet. Discard the old sensor.

4. Lower the car to the ground. Torque the sensor to 40 pound-feet with a torque wrench.

5. Plug the electrical connection into the connector on the oxygen sensor. Repeat the process on the second sensor if necessary.

6. Raise the car slightly with the jack and remove the jack stands. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new sensor. Do not get any anti-seize compound on the tip of the sensor. Thread the new sensor in carefully by hand. Tighten it with an oxygen sensor socket and ratchet.
