Van fuel injectors can frame up corrosion that affects engine performance and fuel timing. The procedure for cleaning them is complementary on most vehicles. But, some injectors are designed to be replaced and cannot be cleaned. They are a solid protest that cannot be taken apart. Consult the work publication for your year mannequin vehicle before blastoff the procedure.
Instructions
1. Add a liquid fuel injector cleaner to the Gauze receptacle. Cleaners can be purchased at your community parts cubbyhole or concluded you vehicle dealer. They are relatively inexpensive and save you from having to remove the injectors. Provided the injector cleaner does not undarkened them, you must end the later procedures to diagnose and Disinfected them.
2. Install your fuel vigour gauge in the threaded Harbour located on the fuel rail. Remove the cap from the fuel rail port, and gently screw the pressure gauge into the port. Check your service manual for acceptable rail pressure. Start the vehicle and monitor fuel rail pressure. If it is within acceptable limits, there is no need to remove and clean the injectors. If the pressure reading is outside acceptable limits, shut the vehicle off, remove pressure gauge and screw the cap back in place.
3. Your care engine should be completely cooled down before attempting this procedure. Removing injectors while the engine is still warm can cause the fuel to ignite and cause a fire. Allow at least 2 hours for the engine to completely cool down. Connect the fuel rail pressure gauge to the port on the fuel rail. Pump the gas pedal three time to remove any air from fuel lines, and start your vehicle. Monitor fuel pressure.
Move the fuel line so that the injector will clear it when removed. Use your open-end box end wrench to unscrew the injector bolt and remove the injector. Position your absorbent pads so that the fuel still in the line can be absorbed by the pad.
5. Disassemble the injector using the procedure outlined in your service manual. Use your lint-free shop towel and cleaning solvent to remove any corrosion on the injector parts. Reassemble using your service manual procedure and your open-end box end wrench to reinstall injector. Tighten the injector mount bolt until snug. Use your line wrench to secure the fuel rail fitting. Tighten until snug. Use this procedure for each injector in your engine. Before starting the vehicle, make sure all residual fuel is removed from the engine and injectors.
6. Position your open-end box end wrench on the bolt head that holds the injector in place. Use your line wrench to loosen the fuel line connector until it clears the threads.4. If pressure is within acceptable range, you have successfully completed the procedure. If rail pressure is outside acceptable range, further diagnosis will be necessary.
