The electric window regulator in your motorcar, Motor lorry or SUV performs the mechanical quota of the employment required to ajar and hurried your windows. The vehicle's electrical operation provides the coercion to the window Engine. When you push the window Press-stud, it energizes the Engine with that electricity, which in turn moves a gear on the window regulator. A window that won't go up or seems off-track is symptomatic of a broken or faulty window regulator.4. Pull the old electric window regulator out of the door and discard it. Insert the new one and bolt it to the door in reverse of how you unbolted the old one. Reinstall the door panel by simply reversing the removal steps and then take the packing tape off the door and window by hand.
This varies slightly based on the year, make and model but traditionally involves removing the window and lock switches with the trim tool, removing any screws that hold the door panel to the door with a Phillips screwdriver or socket set and then prying the door panel trim pins out with the trim tool so you can finally remove the door panel by hand.
2. Lift the window glass by hand to the top of the window channel. Attach the window to the top of the door with packing tape to keep it from interfering with the rest of the repair.
3. Unbolt the old electric window regulator from the window, window motor and door using the socket set. Some vehicles use a window motor and regulator assembly, which is identifiable by a window motor riveted to the regulator instead of bolted to it that removes the need to separate the motor and regulator.
A basic skill level in auto repair is necessary to properly install a new electric window regulator.
