Testing the Fuel Pump

Most cars have a Schrader-type attachment, but some will require adapting a connector. 3. Attach the fuel pressure gauge to the adapter line.
4. Turn on the vehicle. Be sure there are no fuel leaks.
5. Rev the engine and maintain a steady rpm. The auto's service manual will tell the mechanic what is supposed to happen. Remove the pressure gauge from the engine. Be ready with a rag for any fuel that may be under pressure.
