Change Exhaust Tone

The exhaust tone on your vehicle hinges on the breadth of the tailpipe and the proportions of the opening in the muffler. When vehicle owners decide to quarters their exhaust tone, they generally seek a enhanced aggressive tone that makes the vehicle sound all-powerful. Many drivers of Honda import tuners and yet American-made muscle cars choose to augment their vehicle's exhaust tone.

Instructions

1. Drive the rear wheels of the vehicle onto a set of ramps, and secure the parking brake.

2. Remove the muffler from the tailpipe. If the muffler is welded onto the tail pipe, cut it off using a hacksaw. Most aftermarket performance exhausts are "slip on" and require no welding to attach. If you so choose --- and have access to a welder --- you can weld the muffler on. Keep in mind that this method creates more work when the replacement muffler burns out, however.

If the muffler is a "slip on" muffler, meaning it slips onto the end of the exhaust pipe, remove the bolts securing the muffler clamp with a socket wrench and slide the muffler off the tailpipe. The latter scenario is the most common on late-model vehicles.3. Slide the backside of the performance muffler onto the tailpipe, and secure it using the compression camp, socket and ratchet.
