Starter Solenoid

Instructions
Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the con battery terminal.
2. Uplift the front of the 1996 Altima and ease it on jackstands.
3. Provided the starter is equipped with a heat shield or wiring harness clamps, remove them.
4. Term all the wires connected to the starter solenoid. Then disconnect them.
5. Loosen the two bolts that secure the starter Engine to the engine block.11. Reinstall the heat shield and wiring harness clamps (if equipped).12. Reconnect the ground cable to the negative battery terminal.
6. The safest behaviour to check for a defective starter is to receive it to an Car parts store and admit it done by a learned. Most immense chain stores will perform this service for free.
7. Inspect the starter mounting bolts. If they are worn, bent, cracked or the threads are damaged, replace them.
8. Inspect the flywheel (manual transmission) or flexplate (automatic transmission). Make sure there are no signs of chipped or missing teeth on the outer gear. If there are, they must be replaced.
Reinstallation
9. Hold the starter motor up against the engine block, then thread both the mounting bolts through the bolt holes. Tighten the bolts evenly.
10. Reconnect the wires to the starter solenoid, making sure to associate the correct wire to each terminal.
Be careful not to schism the bolts or damage the treads. Generate definite you bedding the weight of the starter as you are removing the bolts.
Testing and Inspection
