Remove the passenger side wheel to access the transmission. Remove the drain bolt (lower right side of transmission) by using the bare 3/8-inch ratchet. The square on the end fits into the square hole on the bolt. The transmission fluid will drain out from this hole once the bolt is loosened and removed. Once the fluid is drained completely, replace the drain bolt.


It is large and silver and very easily accessed once the passenger side wheel is removed. Locate the two large bolts on the transmission facing you. Use the socket and ratchet to remove the top left bolt, which is the Fill bolt. Place the drain pan under the bolts. Some fluid may leak when this bolt is removed.


3. Lower the car down onto the jack stand so that it is level, as if the wheel was still on. The car must be level so that the fluid can be filled to the appropriate levels.2. Locate the transmission under the car.


4. Open the hood of the car and locate the transmission filler hole (where you removed the first bolt) from under the hood. There is an open area above the hole between the engine and the battery.


5. Place the tip of the funnel into one end of the plastic tubing and sit the funnel in the engine bay, above the fill hole. Run the tubing down to meet the fill hole. Go beneath the car and place the end of the tubing into the fill hole far enough so that it can't come out easily.


6. Open the bottles of Honda Manual Transmission Fluid (available at Honda dealersehips) and pour them into the funnel. The transmission should take 1.9 quarts, but pour both quarts into the funnel. The fluid will fill the transmission and begin to leak out around the tubing and fill hole.


7. Remove the tubing from the fill hole and allow all excess fluid to drain out. Once fluid stops pouring out of the fill hole, replace the bolt. Remove the drain pan, replace the wheel and lower the car.
