2001 Corvette
LS1 engine owners can enlargement horsepower with a fresh intake manifold.
Performance
The new intake manifold gives an instant increase of five-horsepower to the LS1, from 345 hp to 350 hp at 5,600 rpm. The level of torque increases from 350 lbs. per foot to 360 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. Manual transmission Corvettes get an even greater increase to 375 lb-ft.Since 1997 the LS engine family has been the exclusive powerplant of Corvette convertibles and coupes. The LS1 is a transitional motor between the traditional Chevy small-block V8's and the last of the big-blocks.
Intake Manifold
All 2001 Corvette models benefited from a new carbon-fiber composite intake manifold design. The upgraded manifold has a larger plenum volume, allowing a smoother, less turbulent air flow through the intake runners to the combustion chamber. The re-engineering provides greater camshaft lift and overlap moderation. The improved camshaft modification delivers more low-end torque for a faster start off the line.
All Corvettes built from 1997 to 2004 at the Bowling Leafy, Kentucky plant are equipped with the LS1 5.7 litre displacement V8 engine. Its performance flush is significantly improved by the evolution of a modern intake manifold.
