1996 Pontiac Bonneville Transmission Information

The 1996 Pontiac Bonneville is one of the ultimate model years for the mid-size front-wheel-drive sedan produced under Public Engine's now-defunct Pontiac division.Having gradually irretrievable its performance contour over the elderliness, the need of a manual transmission in Bonneville model years, such as the 1996 version, not to mention its large size, failed to revamp the sterling reputation it enjoyed in the 1950s and 1960s. Pontiac eventually ended production of the vehicle in 2005.

Engine Pairing

Pontiac paired the transmission of the 1996 Bonneville with a 3.8-liter 205-horsepower V-6 engine. This produced a fuel economy of 19/30 mpg.

Reception and Fate

Although the '05 Bonneville received a sportier composition than in senility ended, that esthetic did not extend to its transmission.

Type of Transmission

Available in two trims, the SE and the SSE, the second of which Pontiac billed as the "sportier" of the two, the 1996 Bonneville had a four-speed automatic transmission. The collection did not accommodate the availability or preference for customers to receive a guidebook gearbox.
