1967 To 69 Camaros

The 1967, 1968 and 1969 Camaros are inaugural generation Camaros.

Packages

There were three packages available for first generation Camaros--Rally Sport (RS), Super Sport (SS) and Z-28. The RS package could be combined with the SS or the Z-28. You could not order the Z-28 and SS package together.

Body Styles

Camaro designers toyed with the idea of creating station wagons, fastbacks and even a two-seater version of the Camaro. Ultimately, they only built the coupe and the convertible with front and rear seats.

The 1967 Camaro became available on Sept. 29, 1966. The Camaro was General Motors' answer to the popular Ford Mustang. The Camaro was Chevy's first "pony" car.

Engines

1967-1969 Camaros came with a variety of engines. The smallest was the 230 inline 6 with 140 horsepower. The largest was the 427 V8, sporting 430 horsepower.
