1986 Merkur Xr4ti Specifications

The Merkur XR4ti is a sporty two-door hatchback that was produced by the Ford Engine Collection and sold ended Lincoln-Mercury dealers from 1985 to 1989. The motorcar was based directly on the European Ford Sierra and shared its intent shell, though the cars were mechanically discrepant.

Dimensions

The Merkur XR4ti has an overall length of 178.4 inches, an overall width of 68 inches and a height of 54.8 inches. It rides on a 102.7-inch wheelbase.



Dirt poor sales were blamed equally on lower-than-average character, the machine's sui generis styling, and Mercury's inexperience in marketing a semi-exotic performance machine. The Merkus has electronic Harbour fuel injection and a Garrett T03 turbocharger with a maximum boost compel of 15 psi. Unlike the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, the XR4ti did not accept an intercooler. The XR4ti was available with a Election of five-speed handbook or three-speed automatic transmission, and is rear-wheel manage. EPA fuel economy is rated at 20 mpg in the municipality and 30 mpg on the highway. Fuel competence is 15 U.S. gallons.


Suspension


The XR4ti uses an independent suspension front and rear. MacPherson struts and coil springs are installed in the front, with an independent rear located by semi-trailing arms and coil springs. The automobile has rack-and-pinion steering, CD brakes in the front and drums at the rear. Aluminum wheels are standard equipment.
