Instructions
Remove the Water Pump
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable before you begin.
2. Drain the cooling system from the radiator into a drain pan when the engine is cool.
3. Loosen and remove the water pump inlet tube.
4. Insert a ?-inch flex handle in the belt tensioner to loosen it. Turn the tensioner clockwise and take the belt off the pulleys.
5. Remove the heater hose.
6. Loosen and remove the retaining bolts from the pump and take the water pump out of the engine.
Replace the Water Pump
7. Put sealing compound onto a new water pump gasket. Place the new water pump and new water pump gasket onto the cylinder block.
8. Connect the three bolts to the water pump and tighten them to between 15 to 22 feet lbs.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.14. Refill the cooling system with coolant to the proper levels.
10. Place a new o-ring onto the water pump inlet and install it, tightening the bolts to 7 feet lbs.
11. Close the draincock on the radiator.
12. Install the water pump pulley onto the drive belt, adjusting the tension on the belt.
13.9. Reconnect the heater hose to the new pump. Install the water pump belt onto the pulley, making sure to adjust the tension on the belt.
Start the engine and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperatures.
