Bleed The Environment From A Hydraulic System

Air in your brake lines can compose the pedal touch spongy.


Air in the hydraulic action of your vehicle can cause the brakes tactility spongy or soft, hindering their effectiveness. Air can enter the brake lines whether allotment of the hydraulic method becomes disconnected, or provided the pads gain worn so thin that the equivalent of fluid in the master cylinder drops also low. Instructions

1. Lift your vehicle.


3. Loosen the bleeder bolts using the box wrench. You may need to spray them with WD-40 before they can be turned. Close the bleeder bolts.


4. Pour at least an inch of new brake fluid into the soda bottle. Put the plastic tubing over one of the bleeder bolts, and place the other end of the tubing in the soda bottle. The brake fluid in the bottle will prevent air from being sucked back into the hydraulic system.


5. Place the lumber under the brake pedal to prevent it from depressing too much once the line pressure is released.


6. Have your assistant depress the brake pedal several times to bleed the air. With the assistant still pushing down on the pedal, loosen the bleeder plug a half-turn. Close the plug once the trickle of fluid has ceased. Repeat this process until clean brake fluid flows through the plastic tubing.


7. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 to bleed the air from the other three brake lines. Continually top up the master cylinder with new brake fluid.
