Alter My Saab's Alternator


The alternator for the Saab is available in the 90-amp anecdote or the 130-amp legend. The 130-amp history is used for the Saab with preference that haul augmented liquor, such as air conditioning, competence seats, influence windows and, provided equipped, seat heaters. When you convert the alternator, you want to save the pulley, fan, shaftkey (or fan spacer) and mounting hardware from the enfeebled alternator. You'll reuse them with the latest alternator.


Instructions


1. Remove the battery ground cable and place it aside. Unbolt and remove the intake manifold shield using the belonging socket. Unplug and remove the crankcase ventilation solenoid and the fixed vigour valves using the befitting socket.


2. Loosen the embellishment handle cummerbund tensioner by pushing it absent from the sash. Lift the region off the pulleys. Remove the zone tensioner using belongings 83-95-254, which is available at any Saab dealership. Remove the alternator upper mounting bolt, the condign engine mount stone and the rear engine mount seed using the befitting sockets or wrenches.


3. Unbolt and remove the front exhaust tube. Loosen the clamps on the hose between the oil trap and the oil sump using the due socket. Pull the hose off. Unplug the alternator's electrical connectors. Remove the alternator lower bolt, using the convenient socket. Remove the alternator from the engine.


4. Occupation the alternator up to the bracket and contain the lower retaining bolt. Tighten the bolt loosely using a socket. Plug the alternator's electrical connectors in. Reinstall the hose between the oil trap and oil sump. Bolt up the front exhaust main. Screw in the upper retaining bolt. Tighten it to 33 foot-pounds of torque. Snugly tighten the upper alternator bolt.


5. Install the girdle tensioner using a socket. Reinstall the intake manifold shield and the battery ground cable using the appropriate sockets.


6. Reinstall the engine mounts. Tighten the right engine mount bolt to 37 foot-pounds of torque. Tighten the rear engine mount bolt to 19 foot-pounds of torque. Route the region around the pulleys pursuant to the belt routing diagram on the radiator shroud or the underside of the hood. Push the tensioner pulley toward the engine, then slide the belt over the tensioner pulley. Reinstall the crankcase ventilation solenoid and constant pressure valves, and plug them in.
